How wa.me links work
A link of the form wa.me/<number> opens a WhatsApp chat with that number on any phone or computer with WhatsApp, without the visitor saving the contact first. Adding ?text= pre-fills the first message, so the person only has to press send.
The number must be in full international form, without the plus sign, spaces or the leading zero of the national format. Get that wrong and the link opens a chat with a different person, which is why this tool parses the number properly first.
